Grandpa Brady

Grandpa Brady passed away April 18, 2013. He had a stroke when Braxton was a baby, and hadn't been quite the same since. But he still tried to live life to the fullest, and he and Grandma Brady were always traveling to visit family. We were lucky enough to be among the family members they visited in his last couple weeks. He was always cracking jokes, and though he couldn't always participate, he loved to watch people play games and have fun. The "L" for Preston's middle initial is partly from Grandpa Brady, and the other part from Grandpa Brady's Dad Lowell. Since Lorain is typically a girls name, Preston's parents gave him the L for short, and killed 2 birds with one stone. We've passed that on to each of our boys, that their middle initials stand for more than one person.
The grandkids and great-grandkids had a lot of fun visiting and spending time with each other. It was a fun Brady family reunion!
Mason and Braylon fell asleep after the viewing while people were saying their last goodbye's.
Grandpa had a beautiful casket that he would have chosen for himself. I wish I would have taken pictures of some of the flower arrangements. Some of them had his things intertwined. Like his cowboy hat, pocket knife, bolo tie, and rope. He was a sheep farmer through and through. Most of Preston's Mom's stories from her childhood are about "sheep camp". There are a couple pictures of a sheep that someone made out of flowers, he would have loved it!
I'm sure Grandpa Brady is very happy where he is now! But it's still hard for those who get left behind, especially for Grandma. She decided to still hold her Brady family reunion that she had planned for over a year. It was over labor day weekend. I know it was hard for her to be there without her sweetheart, but I'm glad she didn't let it keep her down. She always joined in on the fun and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time!
